Motorcycle Club ‘Bears’ Its Heart With a Special Delivery to the Camden PD

CAMDEN, NJ — It might not be what first comes to mind, but what better to pair the sound of revving motorcycle engines on a frigid winter night, than hundreds of plush Teddy bears?

On Thursday, 400 bears were dropped off at the Camden County Police Department as part of the Members of the Brothers in Blue Motorcycle Club’s “Freddie’s Teddies” program.

The bears will be dispersed to Camden Police officers and used in interactions with children dealing from traumatic or stressful events.

“We are extremely grateful to the Brothers in Blue for their compassion and generosity,” said Chief Joseph Wysocki. “These bears will be kept in police vehicles and always on hand to comfort a child. We are working to ensure that even during traumatic incidents, interactions with our officers are seen are meaningful and positive.”

The “Freddie’s Teddies” stuffed-animal drive is conducted in memory of Jennifer L. “Freddie” Meadows — a fan of teddy bears who was killed in an unsolved hit-and-run in Huntington, West Virginia in 2017.

The Brothers in Blue MC said to date it has collected over 16,000 stuffed animals — most of which are donated to police, fire, and rescue departments to comfort children during traumatic situations.
