A Florida man was arrested Tuesday after authorities stopped him from riding a motorcycle with a toddler between his legs.
Gerardo Javier Garcia, 27-years old and of Tampa, was arrested Tuesday and taken to Pinellas County Jail, where he faces several charges including driving without a license, fleeing from authorities and child neglect, according to Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has also placed a hold on him, PCSO records show.
Clearwater Police received several calls about Garcia driving his motorcycle shirtless with a a toddler between his legs 3 p.m. Tuesday, according to a report by the Tampa Bay Times.
An officer located Garcia and attempted to pull him over, but Garcia fled at a high rate of speed, according to the Times.
The officer relinquished the chase for fear of putting the child in danger. Officers remained observant of Garcia who continued to drive recklessly through the city.
Officers eventually put a stop to Garcia, who told them he fled because he didn’t have a driver’s license.
The relationship between the child and Garcia was not disclosed.
Garcia has a bond of $15,250.
